Buying Guide

Glass Buying Guide

How to specify and order the right glass — types, thicknesses, performance ratings and compliance for any application.

Choosing a Glass Type

Float glass is the everyday clear standard. Low-iron gives the clearest, brightest edge. Patterned (Decorvue) adds privacy. Toughened and laminated options add safety.

Thickness & Span

Match thickness to span and load: 3–6mm for small panels, 6–10mm for shelves and partitions, 10–12mm for doors and balustrades.

Safety Glass

Toughened glass is up to 5× stronger and breaks safely. Laminated glass holds together if broken — ideal for overhead and security glazing.

Performance & Solar

Performance laminates and solar-control glass reduce heat and glare. Acoustic glass cuts noise — ideal for urban and roadside installations.

Compliance

SANS 10400 and NBR require safety glass in doors, low-level glazing and balustrades. We'll advise the correct rating for your application.

Ordering

Use the configurator for instant pricing on standard glass, or request a quote for custom specs, cutouts and performance glass.
